Amita enjoys challenges and is always ready to learn something new every day!

Tell us a little about yourself and how you became a Principal at Little Green House?

I am Amita, Centre Principal of Little Green House Serangoon 553 and I have been working in the Early Childhood Education Sector for the past 11 years. I joined LGH in 2016 as a Centre principal and moved to be a Master Principal in 2019.

How I came to join Little Green House was actually through my leadership course mate who is currently working in one of the Little Green House centres. At that time, I got to know that the HQ was looking for principals in some of its branches and my course mate recommended me to the Cluster Manager. After the interviews and the hiring procedures were completed, I got a chance to be part of this brand.

What gets you excited about going to work at Little Green House every day?

The management is supportive and does not micro-manage. There is sufficient freedom for me to carry out my tasks. More importantly, my colleagues and my staff are what makes me thrilled about work each day.

What do you like most about Little Green House’s culture?

The environment at Little Green House is collaborative and my colleagues care about me as a person and about my professional growth. At Little Green House, there are hardly any internal politics and we work together collaboratively, sharing new ideas, opinions, and resources to help one another.

How has Little Green House helped you in your professional growth?

The company also offers us to participate in various kinds of ECDA-based or external institute’s training programmes. They even nominate outstanding individuals for ECDA’s Professional Development Programmes for Teachers (PDPT) or Professional Development Programme for Leaders (PDPL) courses.

Teacher training is not one-size-fits-all at Little Green House. Instead, it is catered to individual needs.

I also felt valued and appreciated when my skills and work ethic were recognised as I was asked to mentor the new batch of Little Green House principals. The mentoring programme helps me to hone my leadership skills and I’m also excited to have more colleagues in the preschool industry!
